Moussaoui Hired to Pilot Air Force One

(2006-03-14) — After two previous federal government blunders that could end up sparing the life of convicted al-Qaeda terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui, a source close to the Justice Department’s prosecution team revealed today that Mr. Moussaoui has been accidentally hired to pilot Air Force One, the president’s official airplane.

Yesterday Judge Leonie Brinkema called a halt to the penalty phase in the trial of the so-called 20th hijacker after the prosecution informed her that an attorney for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) had coached witnesses in the penalty phase of Mr. Moussaoui’s trial.

Today, the prosecution was forced to reveal that TSA attorney Carla Martin had also written a letter of recommendation that got Mr. Moussaoui a position on the Air Force One flight crew.

A spokesman for Ms. Martin downplayed the significance of the Air Force One job saying “many inmates are employed as part of the corrections process, and that Zacarias would only be handling take offs anyway.”" -- Scott Ott / ScrappleFace

Thanks Scott... but your description of the ineptitude of our federal justice system is somehwat understated here.
