Israel and Syria Make Plans for Faceoff

There is mouting evidence this evening that both Israel and Syria are planning contingencies to face off against each other once again. The Israeli cabinet has agreed to widen the country's ground offensive against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon:

Israeli Tanks
The decision, made at a closed door session, received unanimous approval, a senior political source said.

In the latest fighting, Israeli war planes struck the eastern Lebanon Lebanese officials said.

Earlier Prime Minister Ehud Olmert ruled out an immediate truce, saying Israel would continue its offensive as long as its security was threatened.

Mr Olmert also reiterated calls for the release of the two Israeli soldiers seized by Hezbollah - whose capture in a cross-border raid sparked the conflict on 12 July.

Speaking in Tel Aviv he said the offensive would end "when the threat over our heads is removed (and) when our kidnapped soldiers return to their homes". More...
At the same time there is mounting evidence that Syria has placed their military on alert and may be planning an incursion into Lebanon if Israeli ground forces step up plans for a significant ground invasion. Israel's inner security cabinet voted early Tuesday to expand Israel's ground operations in Lebanon. The Israeli government had already called up an additional 15,000 reservists last week.

Tensions continued to climb a day after an Israeli missile killed at least 56 people including 30 children, who had sought refuge in a building in the Lebanese village of Qana. Israel called the incident a tragedy and was investigating.

On Monday, Hizbollah launched two rockets at northern Israel, the first after the temporary suspension of aerial attacks on Lebanon was announced. On Sunday, the Lebanese Shiite militia launched at least 140 rockets at Israel, the highest number yet since fighting broke out on July 12.

Syrian President Bashar Assad said that the Syrian Army would not be deterred from "assisting brothers and supporting resistance." In a letter to the Syrian Army on its 61st anniversary, Assad said that Syria is "more strong and more willing" to stand by Arabs in Lebanon and Palestine and should prepare themselves as much as possible. More...
Every indication is pointing to a wider conflict before the week is out. Seems like Condi and GWB have as much influence over Israel as China has over N. Korea.

Fidel Hospitalized

Bleeding from the gut...
MiamiHerald:
Cuban leader Fidel Castro has temporarily ceded his presidential power to brother Rul Castro due to illness, according to Cuban national television.

The unprecedented announcement came in a communique read over state television. It said that Fidel Castro would be undergoing surgery.

The precise nature of that surgery was not immediately known, but the announcement said that Castro suffered from gastrointestinal bleeding.

The statement read by Carlos Valenciaga, Castro's secretary, attributed the ailment to stress from recent public appearances in Cuba and Argentina, but the situation appeared serious.

Iranian Military Leader: Prepare to Hit Israel

This story was run in Reuters today reflecting the build up of confidence within the Iranian leadership that Israel can be contained militarily. While most of this rhetoric is posturing, it serves to enhance Iran's ambition and image to the muslim on the street as they hope to become the dominant military power that will defeat Israel and prevent the U.S. from advancing western ideology in the region.

Reuters:
TEHRAN (Reuters) -
Iran's hardline forces should get ready to take revenge on
Israel and the United States for the offensive on Lebanon, the head of the Revolutionary Guards was quoted as saying on Sunday.

"The Basij and Revolutionary Guards should prepare to get even with the Zionists and Americans," Yahya Rahim-Safavi was quoted as telling Islamic militiamen by the conservative Fars news agency.

The Basij are volunteer Islamic militiamen.

"The timing of the this will be announced by the leader," he added.
We suspect Iran believes that the U.S. armed forces can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

Chavez "Trenchmate" with Iranian Leader

Nice!! Another Fidel in the making... Shades of Cuban Missle Crisis anyone? Yo...Fidel! What are you chopped liver? Can't leverage those Cuban cigars like Venezuelan oil can you? Too bad. No tears here.

Chavez want's his place on the world stage as well. Will all the lunatic dictators please stand up and be counted while the rest of the world appears frozen staring into the headlights. Looking for clear leadership? The London-Washington tag team perhaps? Dudes... don't look towards Washington -- we have an election to get ready for. This is no time for any bi-partisan strategy to counter looming foreign threats. Get real -- we have an election in four months!
(TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- The presidents of Iran and Venezuela, leading U.S. critics, pledged Saturday to support one another in disputes with Washington, with the Iranian calling Hugo Chavez 'a brother and trench mate.'

As Chavez arrived for a two-day visit. Iran faced renewed international criticism for its nuclear program and for backing Hezbollah guerrillas in its war with Israel.

The five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council on Friday reached a deal on a resolution that would give Iran until the end of August to suspend uranium enrichment or face the threat of economic and diplomatic sanctions. Iranian state radio said Saturday the government would reject the proposed resolution.

Chavez pledged that his country would 'stay by Iran at any time and under any condition.'"

Mother Axes Daughter in Jordan for Birthing out of Wedlock

Need further evidence of what the world has in store for it if Islamo-fascist radical Islam prevails and spreads from the middle east? This atrocity occured in Jordan, a "moderate" progressive Islamic nation which is still reticent to outlaw Sharia laws. Where are the U.S. and western leftist feminists voicing their horror? In fact, doesn't it seem strange that they are not out there visibly and vocally condeming radical islam in general? Could it be that a conflict of interest exists with their left wing agenda and they would actually prefer silence on issues such as this distaining the thought of taking a stand on a idea that is in any way aligned with the Bush administration and conservative thought in general. What ever happened to the JFK brand of hawkish democrats of the 60s who were ready to go to war to protect western liberties and freedoms? Is it only Joe Liberman that's left carrying that flag for the dems? If course not... but why the silence?

Here is a glimpse of a world under the rule of radical Islam. If you don't think WWIII will become a war of also including "moderate" muslims against radical fanaticism such as this, think again. The governments of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Eqypt and other moderate states better wake up along with the rest of the islamo-EU and the world in general and crack down on this barbaric religious fanaticism. Honor killing and female genital mutilation are just the tip of the iceberg. It will be interesting to see the reaction of the Jordanian officials.

Courtesy of Khaleej Times:

AMMAN - A Jordanian woman hacked her 26-year-old daughter to death in her sleep with an axe for giving birth out of wedlock, the Jordan Times reported Sunday.

The 69-year-old mother and another daughter turned themselves in to police after Saturday’s killing, claiming they had acted to cleanse the “family honour”, the paper said, quoting official sources.

They were charged with premeditated murder, the sources said.

The victim had been divorced for the past seven years and had given birth to a boy on the day she was murdered.

Hours later “her enraged mother decided to kill her to cleanse the family honour,” one official told the newspaper.

“The mother and daughter waited until the victim went to sleep, took an axe and hacked her repeatedly until they made sure she was dead,” the official said.

More than 10 women have been killed in similar “honour crimes” since January in the conservative Muslim kingdom.
Khaleej Times, which ran this story today, is the No.1 English language daily newspaper published from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. There is nothing on the wire yet from AP as of this posting.

Satire: Mel Gibson Starring in "Dead Language"

Mel Gibson has casted himself in a new full length motion picture as covered by satirist Scott Ott.
2006-07-29) "Police in Malibu, California, got a rare treat this week when they encountered Passion of the Christ producer-director Mel Gibson as he prepared for his next "‘dead language"’ film.

Delivering his lines in a slurred dialect of anti-Semitic (—a language spoken only by a primitive tribe of amateur linguists)— Mr. Gibson gave the officers a preview of coming attractions for his new film Nosedive, which chronicles the downfall of an immensely popular actor and filmmaker following a drunken public outburst.

"He stayed in character the whole time,"” said one unnamed officer, who played along with Mr. Gibson'’s act by arresting and booking him, then releasing him on bond. "“He'’s an amazingly versatile actor. When I saw him in Braveheart I believed he was a Scottish warrior-poet, and the other night, I really believed that he was a drunken anti-Semite."”

A spokesman for Mr. Gibson'’s production company said the new film will include no subtitles." -- as reported by satirist Scott Ott / ScrappleFace

Seattle Attacker Worked at Hanford Nuclear Facility

Hope the Seattle residents will be able to sleep tonight. Notice how the press is spinning this incident as the act of a crazed maniac and not associating it at all with the war between religions? Seattle won't need Starbucks to keep awake at night knowing that "...Shehadeb said he and Haq’s father, Mian Haq, both work at the Hanford nuclear reservation, as do many members of the area’s Muslim community..."

lgf: Seattle Attacker Worked at Hanford Nuclear Facility: "Tossed off at the end of this Associated Press story on the Islamic terrorist attack in Seattle is a little tidbit of disturbing information. (Hat tip: dlc.)
Yousef Shehadeb, 46, a member of the Islamic Center of the Tri-Cities, recalled Haq as quiet and something of a loner. Shehadeb said he and Haq’s father, Mian Haq, both work at the Hanford nuclear reservation, as do many members of the area’s Muslim community.

Hanford Nuclear Reservation is the largest nuclear waste dump in the Western Hemisphere.

Pleasant dreams." --- [Hat tip: lgf]

Islamic Deathwish

An interesting perspective on the self destructive nature of the middle eastern anti-zionist islamo-facists. Israel time and time again, grants and takes steps to offer the olive branch and the radical anti semetic groups just rain more misery on themselves. Why you might ask? Well it just seems to be in their nature to be self destructive...

A Comment from Gates of Vienna:

Only a vegetable would say jihad does not mean violence when applied to the struggle between Dar al Islam and Dar al Harb.

In Islam, jihad is sacred. In it, Islam is a political structure that has combined rule and religion.

We in the west don't get that.

The violence is sacred and political at the same time. That is why islam is winning this war of religion. The west is fighting and denying at every turn that this is a war of religions. We might wish it [not] to be that way, but the enemy has never claimed it was anything else!

BOOM! says it all - even in jest. --- [Hat tip: Mussolini]

Nasrallah Vows to Strike Central Israel

We suspect that any ceasfire brokered by Condi Rice, or anyone else for that matter, will last no longer than the time the North Koreans spent mulling over the last U.N. Security Council resolution. Al-jazeera gives it's perspective on Hezboula leader Sheik Nasrallah today out on their website slanted toward western readers.
Aljazeera.Net - Defiant Nasrallah vows more strikes:
Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, has vowed to rain down more rockets on Israel and said that Condoleeza Rice's visit to the region aimed to "impose conditions that serve Israel".

"Many cities in the centre (of Israel) will be targeted beyond Haifa if the savage aggression continues on our country, people and villages," said the leader of the Shia armed group in a televised speech on Saturday.

The threat came after Hezbollah's rockets reached the Israeli city of Afula, 50 kilometres south of the border earlier on Saturday - the deepest strike into Israel since the conflict began 18 days ago.

"The bombardment of Afula and its military base is the beginning," Nasrallah said an address broadcast on Hezbollah's satellite channel Al-Manar. More...

Cynthia McKinney May Loose Seat

The voters in Georgia's 4th Congressional district may be fed up with the antics of Rep Cynthia McKinney! From the Atlanta Journal Constitution: A new poll by InsiderAdvantage shows Johnson leading McKinney 46 percent to 21 percent, with one-third of voters undecided and the odds are that Johnson may send her packing.

Atlanta Constitution:
The day a poll showed her trailing in a 4th Congressional District runoff race, U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney rallied Atlanta ministers, including former Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young, to her cause.

Young's endorsement Thursday could help in McKinney's uphill battle to keep her office. A close aide to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and an ordained minister, Young also endorsed Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor earlier this year, helping him win the Democratic nomination for governor by appealing to black voters.

Hezbollah Leader In Iranian Embassy?

This article from the Washington Times is said to have sources and intelligence that inferes that Sheik Nasrallah, spiritual and "moral" leader of Hezbollah has taken up office within the Iranian embassy in Beirut. Not that anyone should be surprised of such an action. We might see the Iranian embassy taken out.

The Washington Times:
Intelligence reports indicate the leader of Hezbollah is hiding in a foreign mission in Beirut, possibly the Iranian Embassy, according to U.S. and Israeli officials.
Israeli military and intelligence forces are continuing to hunt for Sheik Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah's secretary-general, who fled his headquarters in Beirut shortly before Israeli jets bombed the building last week.
"We think he is in an embassy," said one U.S. official with access to the intelligence reports, while Israeli intelligence speculates Sheik Nasrallah is hiding in the Iranian Embassy.
If confirmed, the reports could lead to an Israeli air strike on the embassy, possibly leading to a widening of the conflict, said officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Foreign embassies are sovereign territory and an attack on an embassy could be considered an act of war. More...

Satire: Bush Finally Speaks Out on Israeli Aggression

Scott Ott over at ScrappleFace points out the sheer idiocy of a unilateral cease fire with Islamo-fascist terror organizations such as Hezbollah and Hamas. Expect that Sadaam's chemical weapons, which are more than likely safely tucked away in Syria, will soon make their debut if Hezbollah forces are pushed back or a stray missile finds it's way to Damascus.
ScrappleFace::
by Scott Ott

(2007-07-27) "— In an effort to halt his slide in global popularity polls, an emotional President George Bush today finally spoke out on Israeli aggression in the current battle against Hezbollah along its border with Lebanon.

"“I'’m greatly concerned about Israel'’s aggression,"” said Mr. Bush, "“Every time I see the video on Fox News of Israeli tanks and jets pounding the Hezbollah strongholds I find myself crying out "‘Don'’t stop! don'’t stop!’."

The president said Israel'’s bold action could lead to the "“decimation of a once-proud organization that, along with its brothers in Hamas and al Qaeda, had seemed destined for global greatness."

Mr. Bush called on Israel to "“work rapidly toward a unilateral cease fire in which the weapons of one side cease firing so that the other side can cease firing as well."”

Signs of the Times

C&F sums up our posts of the day rather distinctly. Sadly many of the U.S. anti-Israel protesters were still in diapers during the military barrack bombings in Beirut in 1983. We have men and women fighting and dying in the region, to defend our constitution and freedoms. Freedoms that are non existent in the countries these pea brains are supporting.

"The Zionist regime's attack on Lebanon was a pre-planned scheme to save the regime.

"The usurper Zionists thought attack on Lebanon will create a new atmosphere for them in the region.

Saddam in Hospital from Hunger Strike

Saddam Hussein, the former president of Iraq, has been taken to hospital due to the effects of his 16-day hunger strike. Seems as though he is withering away. We suspect his plan it to cheat the hangman... or the swordsman... depending on what the new method of capital punishment is in the new Iraq for mass murder and genocide.

U.S and Turkey Collaborate to Stabilize Lebanon

Hope springs eternal that moderate islamic nations such as Turkey can broker a coalition of the willing arab nations to intervene and help reduce the violence. Pressure needs to be placed on both Syria and Iran to reign in Hezboulah while the U.S. moderates Israel. No doubt Israel will plan at some point to withdraw but would prefer that a buffer zone up to the Lativ river be occupied by multi national forces. This will only happen after the kidnapped soldiers are returned to Israel dead or alive. The next move will be from Damascus and Tehran.

ZAMAN DAILY (Turkish Newspaper):
US President George W. Bush telephoned Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday in order to consult him regarding the current crisis in Lebanon.

White House official Dana Perino told the press that Bush telephoned PM Erdogan from his Texas ranch on Saturday.

He said that the two men discussed US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's upcoming Middle East visit, the Lebanon crisis, and also the issue of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) attacks in Turkey.

"They continued their consultations on Lebanon, discussing ways to address the humanitarian needs of the Lebanese people," US official Perino said.

Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan has had talks over the phone in recent days with the leaders of Iran, USA, Syria, Russia, Britain and Lebanon, seeking support for a cease-fire in Lebanon.

Islamo-facist Supporters in New York City

The following was posted on LGF this weekend. Take a good look at these photos. Read the posters carefully. Beirut? Damascus? No. Try NYC ! If you visit LGF you will see similar photos from cities all over the world.

Terror Supporters in New York City:
A Reuters photographer was at the pro-Hizballah demonstration outside the Israeli embassy in New York City on July 18. We know this because Reuters published one photo of the posters and signs at the event—this one:

Only in free western nations can such demonstrations take place. Rest assured an anti Islamic demonstration in Tehran would be met by swift decapitation. Wake up America. The 7th Crusade has already begun. Washington politicians must stop their partisan politics and demand that Hezboulah return the kidnapped soldiers or be met by the full rath of the Israeli armed forces. U.N. out of the USA! Deported to Damascus where it belongs.

Iran Announces Suicide Bombers Sent to Lebanon

It appears that Iran is now making public it's overt actions to "wipe Israel from the map". The report below indicates openly that Iran is supplying terrorist suicide bombers to go after both Israel and the U.S. If this isn't a provacative act of war supported overtly by a nation state, what is?

Gateway Pundit:
Members of the Hezbollah guerilla group form flags, from bottom to top, Lebanese, Hezbollah and Palestinian, with their colored uniforms as they parade during the annual rally to mark Al-Quds Day, Jerusalem Day, in the southern suburbs of Beirut, Lebanon, Friday, Oct. 28, 2005.

Boker Tov, Boulder on Al-Quds Day in 2005:

"Oh, Jerusalem, we are coming," the fighters chanted.

"God willing, we want to liberate Jerusalem," Fatima Kenaan told Reuters. "Every mother, father and brother will fight against America and its plans."

Iranian suicide bombers have joined Hezbollah in Lebanon to fight the Zionists according to ADNKronos and Iran Focus:

A spokesman for an Iranian militant group which claims to have 55,000 would-be suicide bombers among its members said on Thursday that 27 of its men have joined Hezbollah militias in Lebanon to fight against Israel. "The first two groups of esteshhadioun (volunteers of martyrdom) have already reached Lebanon," Mohammad Ali Samadi told Adnkronos International (AKI). Speaking on the phone from the organization's headquarters in Tehran, Samadi said the militants reached Lebanon through Syria.

The spokesman for the Headquarters for the Glory of Martyrs of the International Movement said its militants in Lebanon were "27 people selected from the 55,000 members who spoke fluent Arabic and have received adequate training to fight beside their Lebanese brothers against the Zionist enemy."

The spokesman however said the militants would not engage in combat but would "identify Zionist targets and then attack them with actions of martyrdom."

Satire: Bush Veto Kills Hopes for Lawmaker Spinal Cure

Scott Ott takes apart the new swear them into submission strategy in this cleaver parody of the open mike snafu at the G8 summit.

ScrappleFace:
(2006-07-20) — President George Bush yesterday vetoed legislation that would have provided more taxpayer funding for embryonic stem cell research that is virtually guaranteed to cure cancer, make the lame walk, the blind see and, many believe, offers hope for curing a spinal malady that disproportionately afflicts lawmakers.

Even as the House failed to override the president’s first-ever veto, some Republican members of Congress displayed obvious symptoms of the condition that affects the central nervous system and vertebrae in ways that weaken the resolve, disable the moral compass, and cause its victims to bow under pressure.

“It’s a debilitating ailment,” said one unnamed GOP Senator, “and the president’s veto demonstrates that his compassion does not extend to those who suffer from this disease. It looks like Bush loves babies until they grow up to be Senators. Now, with the November elections looming, many of us are asking, ‘Where do I go to get my backbone back?’”

Hezbollah Attacks Unite Israelis

The following article, written by Amos Oz a key writer in the Israeli Peace Movement, provides some interesting insight regarding the support of the current actions of the Israeli government in the current action to destroy Hezboulah (puppet of Iran). The Israeli Peace Movement was instrumental in supporting and encouraging the pull out of Israel from the occupied territories last year in an effort to bring peace with Palestine. Instead, what it brought was Hezboulah and Hamas rocket launchers. "The usual domestic divide dissolves in the face of rockets." -- Amos Oz. The Peace Movement within Israel appears to be fully behind their government defending the lives of the Israeli people from those sworn to "wiping Israel off the map".

Los Angeles Times:

MANY TIMES in the past, the Israeli peace movement has criticized Israeli military operations. Not this time. This time, the battle is not over Israeli expansion and colonization. There is no Lebanese territory occupied by Israel. There are no territorial claims from either side.

Last Wednesday, Hezbollah launched a vicious, unprovoked attack into Israeli territory. This was also an attack on the authority and integrity of the elected Lebanese government, as Hezbollah has, by attacking Israel, hijacked the prerogative of the Lebanese government to control its territory and to make decisions on war and peace.

...The real battle raging these days is not at all between Beirut and Haifa but between a coalition of peace-seeking nations — Israel, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia on the one hand — and fanatic Islam, fueled by Iran and Syria,...

The Israeli peace movement objects to the occupation and colonization of the West Bank. It objected to the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982 because the invasion was aimed at distracting world attention from the Palestinian problem. This time, Israel is not invading Lebanon. It is defending itself from daily harassment and bombardment of dozens of our towns and villages by attempting to smash Hezbollah wherever it lurks.

The Israeli peace movement should support Israel's attempt at self-defense, pure and simple, as long as this operation targets mostly Hezbollah and spares, as much as possible, the lives of Lebanese civilians (not an easy task, as Hezbollah missile launchers are too often using Lebanese civilians as human sandbags).

There can be no moral equation between Hezbollah and Israel. Hezbollah is targeting Israeli civilians wherever they are, while Israel is targeting mostly Hezbollah. Hezbollah's missiles are supplied by Iran and Syria, sworn enemies of all peace initiatives in the Middle East.

The real battle raging these days is not at all between Beirut and Haifa but between a coalition of peace-seeking nations — Israel, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia on the one hand — and fanatic Islam, fueled by Iran and Syria, "

USS Enterprise Port of Call: S. Korea

AP News:
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- The aircraft carrier USS Enterprise arrived in South Korea Tuesday for a routine port call, officials said, amid heightened tensions in the region over North Korea's missile launches.

The Carrier Strike Group 12 led by the world's first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier arrived at the southern port of Busan, the U.S. Navy in South Korea said in a statement.

The vessel's visit "has been previously scheduled and it is not in response to any specific event," the statement said.

The communist North fired seven missiles earlier this month, including one believed capable of reaching the U.S.

The missiles plunged into the sea east of the Korean Peninsula without causing any known damage or injuries, but prompted strong international condemnation.

It wasn't clear how long the vessel will stay at the port.

Expect to see some nervous behavior from the North Korea as a result of Carrier Strike Group 12 providing a strategic visit to the waters of Korea and Japan. A military dictatorship like N.Korea will amplify the significnce of this naval asset movement irregardless of language in any press release. Whether this will have any impact on missle testing remains to be seen. We think not. It might alter the "direction" in which the tests are performed. Over contental China would be an interesting modification !!
